California Christmas Lights tracks hundreds of lit houses all over the state

This week’s Curator: Mikl Em of The Interval / Long Now.

December 25 is the most interesting day to check IsItChristmas.com (relatively speaking). But the fun doesn’t stop there. If you don’t have familial obli-celebrations, you might despair that only Netflix can help. But fear not! Below are Christmas Day and evening entertainment options for ya and more for the week ahead. Tip: use the long-running Californiachristmaslights.com for a virtual tour of seasonally-lit houses around California or to plan a local route for either a virtual tour of Xmas-lit houses around California or to plan a local route to get Christmas shine in person. This week: we’ve got sexy, circusy, model railroady fun times ahead. Please be safe and know The Anglerfish will never slide down your chimney. That’d be awkward for all of us. See you next year!

Thanks for reading The Anglerfish! We’re also on @ & FB. Please subscribe and help us reach more people in 02019: tell your curious-er friends about us via social media or by whispering in their ears.

It’s A Jewish Christmas, San Francisco!

Karla LaVey’s BLACK X MASS 2018 at The Elbo Room
For as long as I can’t remember (i.e. 1997) Karla LaVey, daughter of Anton, has hosted a Black X Mass show on 12/25. This year’s variety show includes someone/thing compellingly named “Theremin Wizard Barney” and my talented pal DJ KrOb providing visuals and music. The venue, the venerable Elbo Room bar, will close its doors forever at the end of this year. So go see this outlandish show and celebrate San Francisco decadence past and (hopefully) future. The Elbo Room has more events this week, if you want to say your goodbyes.
